Produce Show 2025 >>>

Produce Show success!

The annual Topcliffe and Asenby Produce Show held in the Village Hall on Saturday 30 August 2025 was a great success.

Dozens of people entered horticultural, floral, baking and hobby items in an attempt to win the various category competitions and walk off with a trophy.

The entries were absolutely amazing and it was obvious that a lot of time and energy had gone into the growing of produce and making of a wide range of items, from baking to paintings and jams to textile pieces.

Horticulture winner – Dave Bowman

Congratulations to Dave Bowman who was the overall winner in the horticultural and also won the trophy for the most firsts! Doug Allan was second in the horticultural category and Steve Port was third.

Winner in the baking and the floral sections: Cath Towers

In the baking and preserves section Cath Towers took the trophy. Her cakes were spectacularly decorated and her other entries ensured that she walked away with a well-
deserved win.
Cath also took the floral trophy – completing a fantastic double win.

Hobbies winner: Carole Ford

There was an abundance of entries in the hobbies category this year. The display included a wide range of artwork – oils, water colours and sketches – along with embroidered, knitted and crocheted items and many other handicrafts. The category winner was Carole Ford, who
had a number of successes in the various classes.

Children's Entries

There weren’t an awful lot of entries from the younger people in our two villages, but what was exhibited was very creative and well presented. There’s no trophy in this category but plenty of children went away happy with certificates and sweets.

Entry fees, raffle takings, refreshments sales and money raised from selling slices of Cath Tower’s wonderful cakes, helped raise £391.25, which will go towards supporting and maintaining our village hall.

Events like our Produce Show wouldn’t happen if volunteers didn’t get involved to make it work. A big thank you to Show Secretary Judith Lowe, helpers who set up and cleared the hall, those who served refreshments… but most of all those who took the time to enter their items in the show, the skilled judges and all those who came along on the day.

Congratulations to all the winners and we’ll see you next year.
